Donna Hansen has 22 years of combined experience working in the cancer registry world, first in a CoC hospital cancer registry and then a state central registry.
For the past 8 years, she has been with the California Cancer Registry and worked for 7 years as the CCR Auditor and Education Training Coordinator, and designated California National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) ETC. This past year she moved into the new role of Lead Data Quality Analyst for the California Cancer Registry.
Her hospital registry experience started in 2000 when she began working for a CoC Hospital cancer registry and received her CTR certification in 2003. Over her 14 years in CoC hospital registries she gained experience in multiple roles including patient follow-up coordinator, Abstracting CTR, Tumor Board Liaison, CoC Accreditation Coordinator and Registry Supervisor.
Previous to her cancer registry work she has 20+ years experience working for a busy Medical Oncology group and Infusion center in patient care.
Donna has spent her entire 40+ working career in some way related to medical oncology or cancer data collection.
She has served for many years on several NAACCR workgroups, and currently continues on the:
- Uniform Data Standards and
- Site Specific Data Items work groups
She was the recipient of the CCRA Distinguished Service Award in 2016
