Ann Griffin, PhD, CTR
Ann has been a CTR since March 1999. She began managing the Cancer Registry at UCSF Medical Center in late 2003. Next month will mark her 19-year anniversary working for UCSF and she still loves almost every minute of it!
Ann began her training in the Cancer Registry of Central California (formerly Region 2) as a Data Collection/QC Specialist. She has gone on to positions of management of CoC-accredited registries at the Comprehensive Community and Academic/Teaching levels in the Central Valley and East Bay prior to managing the NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center registry at UCSF.
In terms of service, Ann has served in many volunteer roles for CCRA and NCRA; is a member of the NCRA Workload Taskforces (both past & present has recently been invited to join the newly formed California Cancer Registry, Advisory Committee.
With respect to registrar education, Ann taught for the Santa Barbara City College, Cancer Information Management Program and currently serves on the NCRA Education Committee. Ann has supervised 14 registry CTR student practicums and hired six students into entry level positions in her registry.
Ann has co-authored a number of publications and has presented on a variety of education topics at local, state, and national registrar association meetings.
There is NOTHING Ann enjoys talking about more than cancer registry operations – both challenges AND success stories – or promoting the registry profession!
